RELICS OF MYTH AND LEGEND

“Hidden in ancient dungeons, locked in expansive vaults, and wielded by great heroes are a collection of wondrous relics greater than all others, imbued with magical powers that grow stronger with mythical ascension quests. It is said that whoever wields one of these Relics of Calibourne has the potential to change the world.”

Relics of Calibourne is a 24-page Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Compatible compendium of 16 unique scaling magic items. The items of myth and legend, the Relics of Calibourne are powerful magic relics that grow in power with the wielder. Crafted and wielded by the infamous Magelords during the Age of Relics, each item has carved out a space of legend and mythos. With the defeat of the Magelords in the War of Arcanum, the dozens of relics were spread across Calibourne. Some were buried with their creators, some were stolen, others were passed down, and others more were locked away. All, to this day, are highly coveted.

Production Overview

Relics of Calibourne was a self-directed solo project that entered official development as part of one of my capstone writing classes at university. As I wrote the booklet I included the magic items within my own Pathfinder 1e group, which aided in refined balance and precision.

Relics of Calibourne was a success, and the most important takeaway being the importance of playtesters. Many of my original designed seemed well-balanced on paper but did not survive playtesting without heavy nerfs or buffs.
