Magic Items Inspired by King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table

"The age of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table was one of legend. A time of incredible myth and folklore, dominated by chivalrous yet flawed heroes, mystical and wondrous locations, and items of untold power. A time when King Arthur held aloft Calibourne, the Sword in the Stone, and was crowned king."

Arthurian Artifacts is an 18-page 5e supplement that details 21 unique scaling magic items. These artifacts are a collection of famous items from the Arthurian Legends reimagined as powerful rare and very rare magic items for your 5e game. Each artifact is designed to capture the powers, themes, and role of their original versions from classic works such as the Historia Regum Britanniae, King Arthur and His Knights, and Le Morte d'Arthur.

Unlike normal 5e magic items, each Arthurian Artifact comes with a unique in-game objective known as an Ascension Quest. Each of these quests represent the role the artifact had in the original Arthurian legends— translated into TTRPG mechanics. Upon a wielder’s completion of an Ascension Quest, their artifact will transform into its Ascended form, gaining increased stats and abilities. The Arthurian Artifacts are designed for use in any 5e campaign.

Production Overview

Arthurian Artifacts was the first title I created solely for and as Calibourne Studios, my solo indie company. This project became one not just of narrative and design, but also of self-marketing, researching, and publishing. Of keeping to a schedule you set for yourself and have to hold yourself to.

Arthurian Artifacts also was the first major project that received feedback from complete strangers - positive and negative comments alike. The project was a lesson in dealing with this feedback and coming out with the best possible product.

2024 Update: Since the initial release of Arthurian Artifacts I’ve grown significantly in my skills. I’ve since gone back and completely reworked the project to bring it up to my current standards and abilities.
